Asha Jennings-Grant
Associate Dancer
Asha began dancing at the age of three where she studied various styles, such as ballet, jazz and tap. At 14, she went to The BRIT School of Performing Arts and began her training in contemporary dance and musical theatre. She then continued her training at Middlesex University, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Dance Performance.
Soon afterwards, she joined the international sensation STOMP on their worldwide tour. Once returning home to London, Asha got involved in numerous projects varying from teaching STOMP workshops to dancing at swing dance/lindy hop events with Attic Cats to performing at the 2007 Breakin’ Convention at Sadlers Wells. She also spent some time in India performing in Bollywood movies, dance events and music videos.
Asha has been an active member of Uchenna Dance since 2009. She has danced in many Uchenna works, performing in prestigious venues such as Stratford Circus, The Drum (Birmingham), Lilian Baylis and the Indigo O2. Her works include Frusted, a collaborative piece with Vocab Dance and Life After, a piece recently performed at The Place’s Resolution! Asha also had the great pleasure of performing in Uchenna’s first hosted evening at Rich Mix in 2010.
In her spare time, Asha is a supporting artiste and has appeared in Eastenders and The Bill as well as feature films. Asha has been with the company since it began January 2009.
